Any more I could do?

Hey guys, I thought I'd have a shot at this piece. I can't really think or much more to do with this now, I've took any blemishes and small scratches out the face on the original then placed in a new background, I then went on to colour the piece. Just wanted another opinion if there was anymore I could do to this to make it any better? Maybe some dodge/burn? I'm still fairly new to this, so any advice would be great. Thankyou!

PS. How do I get the thumbnails on the bottom of the thread? I've been looking for a while for a thread to tell you how to do it but can't find any.

Re: Any more I could do?

Welcome to RetouchPro Vco, hope you enjoy your time here

Just my opinion but the shadow you have added does nothing but distract from the original image - it is not on the original therefore why did you feel the need to add it? The original photographer probably went to some trouble to make sure no shadow evident

My preference would be to add just a little more colour to the face and eyes in particular - maybe even jacket and tie?

To add image thumbnails go to manage attachments found underneath reply to thread box under Additional Options. Upload your image from here but be aware of the 100k limit

I think I would try to add a layer in "soft light" mode over the face area, maybe red or beige color at about 45% opacity…….maybe?

5 fill opacity

Re: Any more I could do?

Hey,

Thanks for welcome & the replies.

Tony, I added the shadow just to add a little extra something in there & make it look like the added background was actually there, you're probably right, I don't really need it, I'll take that on board for the future.

iDad, I added the layer to the face, gives it a nice & more realistic look, thanks

Re: Any more I could do?

I like the replacement background you've done a good job. I've had a play at colourizing your photo hope you don't mind. I have larger size which i've put in my gallery at pbase for better viewing I can remove it if you wish.

Thanks for sharing.
