| Photo paper texture problem Hi ! Been here for a while now and everyone YOU make superb job. Wondered can you help me too now? I have a problem, I removed bigger cracks and now there is this disturbing paper texture I want to remove. I tried FFT filter to remove it, but it doesn't help me at all. What do you think, how to handle it ? http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/4...ro1015copy.jpg Cheers, C. |

| Re: Photo paper texture problem Hi C and welcome to the Forums Personally, if you have the original available, the most productive and clean way to get rid of some of this pattern is to have the image taken with a camera and a copy stand. You can often adjust the angle of the lights so that the paper texture disappears. Flatbed scanners do not offer this level of flexibility. This would be my preferred approach. Here is a Photoshop approach that I took on the example below. - Duplicate image and make Smart Object - Low pass filter to just see the pattern - Use threshold adjustment layer (and adjust) so the pattern stands out - Group these two layers and make group in subtract mode - The intensity of the subtract needs to be different for different areas of luminosity of the image. This can be done through had painting the mask, changing the opacity, or kick start the process by making a luminosity selection, invert it, and then create a mask from that selection. Just trying to give you an approach out of many. I did not spend much time on it and not quite happy because it did soften the image a bit. I am sure others can provide some ideas too. | Re: Photo paper texture problem Wow, many thanks to you. I tried both ways and I'm happier with 0lBaldy's solution. Thanks to you John Wheeler, made me learn and search dozens of things like high pass filter etc.. I looked into that De-crack action, dust and scratch filter, they both come to handy, thanks for those links too, 0lBaldy. Ofcourse more solutions are welcome! Cheers, C. |

| Re: Photo paper texture problem look in your noise add/removal menu area. i used 'automatic small scratch removal', 'despeckle' and 'median'. doing the small scratch removal first, you can then mask off the hair, face and neck and just work on the shirt, where the effect is the worst. |
