How do I restore clothes? Hello group, How can I correct the clothing, legs and shoes in this photo? There is really nothing to work with to clone. Thank you for your help. Last edited by LookingUp; 12-28-2011 at 05:17 AM. Reason: error in title and body of text.

Re: How do I restore restore clothes? First you really need to get a first class scan of the original. I cannot tell from this example due to the low res allowed for attachments. I would suggest scanning at high ppi maybe 1200 and in 48 bit colour (16 bit per channel) if you have not already done so. You may just gain a little extra information Looking at the example posted all channels are damaged but the least seems to be the blue. So while not usually the best channel to work from (particularly if you have not got a first rate scan) it may be of some help to use this as the basis of your restore. Couple of ways you could do it including Apply image command. But one easy way is to use the Channel mixer: Add Channel Mixer adjustment layer and tick Monochrome Reduce the Red and Green Channels to 0. Increase the Blue Channel to 100. Add a curves layer to adjust contrast etc. Optional add a sepia effect. This will still leave you with an image with plenty of clean up required but should help reduce the work load. You may want to also try and mask the damaged areas to restrict the effect of channel mixing to just these areas Wait a few seconds for image to change

Re: How do I restore restore clothes? Hello, A simple and easy way you might try, which took me a few seconds is to use the 'black & white' adjustment, once you're in the setting, drag the yellow slider down to whatever % you prefer, this will get rid of the yellow scratches around the bottom of the photograph. After this if you wanted, you could put the sepia tone back into the photograph with a photo filter, hoped this helped. Note: I think the black & white adjustment is only for Photoshop cs4 onwards? I might be mistaken. Vco

Re: How do I restore clothes? I've had a go. I used the black and white adjustments layer and bring the yellow down a bit then use hue/sat adjustments layer for the sepia.

I am using Adobe CS5.5 on the Mac. The way I would do it is mask out each pare of pants and then work on each one. |

Re: How do I restore clothes? Thanks for the info. But if I don't mask it will dark the entire image won't it? I just want the pants to be darkened. ??
