Suit fixing

Hi again, last time I got good help, thanks, maybe this time you can help me too..

I'm stuck with this photo. So far I have managed to loose the scratches and holes and smooth the backround, but how do I make his suit and tie normal. I could use cloning tool to loose bright areas, but then it will go so smooth, but I want to preserve texture and make it natural.

Thanks,
C.

Re: Suit fixing

Make a mask for the suit.

Sample a mid-tone from the suit. Fill 2 layers, set 1 to darken and the other to lighten and adjust the opacity to taste.

I also ran the dust and scratches filter on the original layer (or a copy of).

It still needs a bit of work, but it should get you most of the way.

Re: Suit fixing

You could try using the Red channel only for the jacket this has the least amount of damage and could serve as a good starting point. Use the Patch tool to retain texture and a little local burning to even up tonality. Example below just worked on jacket only
