Red tint on 35 year old K-mart photo

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8219/darrell.jpg

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I've tried just about everything to get this looking "natural" with no such luck. I have Photoshop CS3 and CS5

Maybe this will get you started. I primarily used Color Balance and then some Hue/Sat and a little Brightness/Contrast.

Good luck

CS3 or CS5 should do it. It looks like this may be quite an old colour print therefore the content may not have been as saturated as the colour print material we see today.

Using curves but selecting just most of the important image area with a temporary mask should help to get you to this stage. From here you can work on local correction to other areas as you require

Re: Red tint on 30+ year old photo

Here's what I did... First, I duplicated the original layer twice. After that, I took the top copy and set it on "vivid light" with an opacity of 50%. Then I took the second copy and "auto colored" it (Shift+Ctrl+B) and set on "Hue" with an opacity of 25%.

Wow thank you for all of the feedback guys. All of your efforts look better than mine. I'll see if I can come up with anything and then post it back here....

This is what I have come up with using simple levels, color corrections, etc

Another of many different ways to get good results...
Another levels tweak (to brighten) for the final result
