Question Help me restore some memories

Hello guys.
I have this picture from before, taken with one of those photo booth things so it was kind of bad from the start. Over time the photo degraded and now it has white spots on it and everything.
But it means a lot to me and to my friends so if someone that's better than me at this would give it a shot, I'd be very grateful.

Here's the original image:
and here's my attempt:

P.S. I already made a thread about this in photo retouch but this section fits much better so could a moderator remove the previous one?

Darwin226 , Welcome to RetouchPRO
Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends.
Poke around, have fun!

I think you have a great start on your restore... a bit more stick-to-it-nevous and I believe you can have a good looking picture .. it looks good as far as you have gone..

If you use Photoshop you can post fairly large pictures which are under 100k using the 'save for web' function in Photoshop as described here:
Size, Quality and/or Format your Attached Images.. (Click here)

How to attach Files/Images to your Posts or Threads:

If you want to post a larger resolution that is over 100K then you can host your image elsewhere and attach a link in the thread, as you did here, but also please attach an under 100K version (so the thread remains useful in the future, regardless of external links).

This is my attempt after darkening the picture using Multiply mode then using Polaroid Dust and Scratch Filter... (free) dust and scratch filter a couple times (using both the dark and light settings with a hide all mask and painting white on the mask over each blemish I wanted removed )

Then some touch-up painting on a new layer in darken mode to hide some other defects..

Re: Help me restore some memories

Thank you! That looks great!

I'll post images the way you suggested next time. As for the picture, I found out that a friend still has his copy. That means that, even if it's damaged as well, I can use pieces from one and from the other to reconstruct the original.
I still might need some help with the color work but I think it'll be great.
