Faded 25+ year photo

Hi Gurus, I'm totally new to this and would appreciate some pointers in the right direction on how to improve this 25+ year photo of my friend & I that I really like.
I have Photoshop 7 & paint shop pro X4 ....but as I'm a newbie with both,I guess its down to preference/choice etc
Hope you can help ....

Re: Faded 25+ year photo

Quick fix: Try Auto Color, then open Levels and bring the white slider to the left.

After this you have some noise and discoloration to deal with. IMO PS's Noise removal is completely useless (I did try) so I used Topaz DeNoise.

Hue/Saturation (bringing down the Red Saturation and Lightness all the way) seems to help the color issues a bit. Burn in the left side.

I was unable to find a larger version of this image, so of course it would be better to work on a hi-res copy.

PS: Welcome to the forum!

Photoshop CS6, but any imaging app will have the basic tools. I used a plug-in for the noise.

Of course there are more advanced ways to go about this, but the basics will get you started ;-).
