Question Anyone can help with this old photo ?

I have been using Photoshop more than 5 years but i have no experience with retouching or restoration. I wonder can you help me with this. I have a photo which my grandfather and his father in it. And he is not healthy right now, i am planning to surprise him with this photo to cheer him up a little. I want to make this photo look like its taken like now.Is it possible. I will be waiting your suggestions.

Here is the last touch still dont look new. i need some opinions.By the way, I havent touched eyes yet.

I thought I'd try a different approach. First I muted the noise in the photo using Neat Image but any noise removal program will do. Then I tried to heal the obvious defects with the spot healing brush set to content-aware. Used Shadows-Highlights to unblock shadows before applying a curves adjustment.

Finally, I converted to black & white.

If this were my photo this is what I would do prior to adding color.

Curtis thank you it looks much smoother. Can i do this noise thing to my last shared photo ? to colorful one.
