Question Need to remove red marker from face

Hi!

I'm new here, and I hope someone will have an idea where I can go with this photo. I have been cloning to remove the ink, have tried duplicating the red channel onto a luminosity layer...Everything I try either doesn't work, or comes out unrealistic-looking (just as bad). Can anyone help me figure out what might work with this? Thanks!

Michelle

Re: Need to remove red marker from face

The red ink or felt tip (at least thats what it looks like!) has obviously caused damage in all channels. Least in the red of RGB and also the Cyan of CMYK.

TBH I cannot think of an easy way to restore the colour due to the fact that you have red on top of reddish skin tones. So I would suggest considering either just making this a B&W or after getting a good B&W image hand colouring.

Quick play with this adding a B&W adjustment layer (you could try channel mixer) adjusting the sliders up and down to get the best looking result from each minimising the damage as best you can. You may also want to try this but on a duplicate image converted to CMYK to see if you can get any better skin texture and if it is possible to minimise the marking further

Still leaves an awful lot of repairing but it may be of a little help?

This photo can be repaired if only you could post a larger size image to work on! I wouldn't restore and colourise the photo!
