Hi guys and gals
I have a problem with a silverfish infested photo from the 1930's
to the point where there is extreme damage and could use some help with ideas and opinions on how to attack the problem
any help would be appreciated see attachment

I would start by trying to copy with a camera and a double polarized light set up. Might be surprised how much that might add to the contrast and detail you would be able to see.

Re: Help needed on silverfish damage

A very difficult one to try and restore to a reasonable level and I agree with Mike some experimentation with trying to find more detail in the initial acquisition could prove very useful.

Thought I would have a try and the best I came up with in a multistep process attached. IMHO not really worth trying to clean up with spotting and cloning. I cannot think how to get it any better than this from the starting point you provided and if there is a way I would love to see it
