Creating black edges on a selection

I need to create a black outline on a selection. I have the selection highlighted, but cannot determine a good way of creating a simple, black outline for it.

I am thinking I could save the selection as a channel, shrink the outline of the image, and then lay one over the other. Would this not create a border which could then be filled with black?

Just wondering.

Kenneth,

Make your selection, then go under "Select"/"Modify"/"Border". Add a small pixel value, then fill with black. Hope this answers your question.

You can also use "Edit>Stroke..." and enter your color, width, etc.
