Portrait needs work

Attached is a photo of a photo I took with my Nikon D70 digital camera using my copy stand. This is an important old photo and is one of a kind.

I'd appreciate any advice/instructions as to how to retouch this image using Photoshop CS.

Hi Vi, not too sure exactly what you want here. The picture posted had a lot of noise, so I just ran it through Neat Image, then applied a little sharpening to the eyes and mouth areas.

I'm looking to improve this image and learn ways to do so. I like what you've done with this image. I'll try it.

Gary, after you retouched this image it has lots less noise than mine. What settings did you use in Neat Image please?

I just used the default "auto profile with regular image" settings. I may have moved the source from the auto selected point, I can't remember off hand, but it is something I do from time to time.
