Photo Retouching - - Does anyone know how this metal skin technique was acheived?

Could it be body paint and not a post production process?

Maybe it was a Gradient map Adjustment layer. The background could have been masked out, or just replaced.

Hmmm where to start...Are you trying to apply this skin technique to a photograph or to artwork? And we are talking metal like skin right? Here's what I got so far. Let me know if this is what your talking about and I will be glad to list the details to acheive this look.

The attached are the before and after photos. (And yes the before is suppose to look like that, this was a different project of mine and I thought it would look neat in Metal Skin.)

If it wasn't what you had in mind, no worries. I have learned alot from this thread already! Let me know whats up.

Hey there,

Dreamypix thanks for letting me have a look at what you have acheived so far. Looks great and if you can post the "how to" I would be grateful.

I have searched the web and found an article on plastic surgery that made some comments about they way Naomi Campbell was photographed to look like a robot and, yes she was body painted and then some small amount of retouching was done. But, if it can be acheived in photoshop, it would be so cool.

Hi Isaad,

I guess your solution is a curves layer. Maybe my tutorial here might help you a little. If you blur the skin so smooth there won't be any texture left, desaturate and then apply a curves layer like I applied in this tutorial you should be all set. At least I hope, but with some minor modifications on the curve it should be possible!

Isaad, I am sorry it took so long to write back, but that one is a hard one to explain so I just made a tutorial, and I elaborated a bit on the technique. I hope this helps you.
