I uploaded the TLR Professional Mask Toolkit today to my site. It is a sophisticated set of JavaScripts for generating edge, surface, tone, and color masks.

You can combine features. For example, ever wanted a surface match for
skies to remove noise? Well, it's possible with this set of scripts.

There's a .PDF instruction guide, too.

There are separate user interfaces for Photoshop CS and CS2. Sorry,but the scripts are not compatible with earlier versions of PS or with PSE.

Thanks, I think this will be put to good use when using the Blur / Sharpen method for skin. You do tend to get a horrible line near the edges and this needs to be masked out.

Yes, Flora.

I built the scripts from multiple files. The logic is separate from the user interface. That way, I could easily make a CS version and a CS2 version.

I forgot to remove the calls to include the .jsxinc files.

The version on my site *NOW* fixes the problem.

Wanted to let you know that your TLR Professional Mask Toolkit worked perfectly and it's just great!!! Thank you so much for sharing ...

I've been using the selections made with your Tool ('wide' option) not only for sharpening or smoothing/denoising, but for other purposes as well ... like emphasizing shadows, highlights and/or adding consistency to faded areas ... and it worked like a jewel!!!

I fixed a bug in the TLR Professioanl Mask Toolkit. If you selected "Sky" for the color range, the script would generate an error. It was falling through a case structure. That's fixed.

I also improved the Color Range selections for the Skin Tones and Foilage selections.

The new version is 1.0b.

There will be a new version next weekend (1.0c) with dialogs that explain what's going on in the Advanced (i.e., manual) mode. The instructions will also discuss the mechanics so you can use it more profitably.

I'll look at the code.

I have only seen that happen with European versions of Photoshop. They convert the open single quote there from ' to `. That will cause a problem.

Which version were you using? The CS or CS2 version? Did it happen immediately when you clicked on it?

I ask, because I ran both the CS and CS2 versions through multiple tests last evening.

Still, with all the muscle relaxers and pain killers for my fractured vertebra, I can make some silly mistakes.

So I'll check both versions tonight.

I've run 1.0c through its paces. I never get the error you encountered.

More details would be appreciated. I do take these things seriously. Not in a defensive sense.

I just want the tools to be useful to people.

Photoshop CS. iMac G5. OSX 10.4.5
Error occurs immediately upon opening the script.

If you e-mail me, I'll send you the 1.0c scripts right straight from my Photoshop Presets\Scripts directory.

It sounds like something is snarled up in the version on the Web.

I'll repackage the ZIP and load everything on Thu. or Fri. when I get back to Tallahassee.

In the interim, you can try the very scripts that I'm using right now.
