How is this done?

I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to achieve the look of Gray Scott's work (www.grayscott.com) sort of subdued crisp, contrasty colors. There is a recent article on him where he makes reference to the fact he works a lot in PS. Undoubtedly there are significant lighting and stylist/makeup things he's doing on set, but I am curious as to how to achieve the look and feel of his images.

Any suggestions would be great very curious to play around with the effects he is using esp his skin tones which seem to be a soft yellowish white.

cheers
Steve

I posted to you in the other forum, but I meant to tell you to post up a photo (if you have one you are wanting this look applied to) and we can all play at it and see what we can come up with.

I am no professional, but from what I can tell about the entrance photo it looks to be hand colored.
The pic looks great, but a little unnatural looking (but I guess that is the effect he wanted)

cheers
