Re: What kind of technique is this?

When you go for E6 and develop in C41 you get oversaturated colors, high contrast and often enhanced grain; almost a bit "painted". The result differs depending on what brand, filmspeed and what film the printer sets the machine for. All film has different "basetones" that the printer (person) adjust the machine for. Since E6>C41 is not normal you get very different results from this choice.
If you go the other way, C41>E6, you get transperancies with pastel colors and an orange base. This is the "bastone" mentioned above.

Can we talk about lighting for a second? I suppose it goes without saying that the first priority is to get your lighting as good as possible out of the camera. If you want specular highlights, make them with your lighting. Shoot tethered to a computer so you can see what you are doing. But yes, Amy is a genius.
Study art and painting, that is key, I think.
Best to all- Thanks for all the terrific techniques!

Re: What kind of technique is this?

I wanted to revive this thread, since I see so many excellent examples but not much explanation of technique.

Can anyone really elaborate on painting in the tones and colors like this?
