NILMDTS- Image Help

Hi...it's been a while since I've been here, but I'm back, and need help.

I'm an affiliate with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep ( www.nilmdts.com ) infant bereavement photography. I need help with an image...I'm not going to post because it is graphic. I'd like to think I am very good in PS, and with touching up, but my results are looking like crap.

The image is baby born still...she has white wax like stuff all over her. My cloning and healing isn't looking good. Any suggestions would be so much appreciated.

TIA

Andrea

Andrea, can you post a very small patch of skin area that is representaive of what you are trying to retouch? There are so many options that it is difficult to suggest which one(s) might be most effective without seeing a sample.

Would you be able to sample the color from a clear area of skin, make an empty layer, set the blending mode to color and with a soft brush paint over the white areas. You would have to experiment with the opacity level.

I know you tried the Healing Brush and the Clone Stamp tool, but try the Clone Stamp tool at 40-60% opacity and a Soft Light blend mode. Soft Brush

Andrea, if you are just trying to attenuate the white areas, try Ctrl+Alt+~ to select the highlights. Then Ctrl+J to copy the selection to a new layer. Change the blend mode to Multiply. Next Alt+Click the Add Mask button to add a black layer mask. Now with a soft white brush set to 15-20% opacity, paint over the white ares to darken then and blend them into the surrounding color.

Not sure what the intent of the image is but if it is more symbolic in nature, it might be appropriate to replace the skin completely. Anyway good luck with the work - those are emotiionally tough ones.

Regards, Murray

My suggestion would be to replace the skin, as well, Murray.
