Thumbs up Don't know him, never heard of him

, but he is obviously quite accomplished. Ideas? A few. Disturbed childhood. Lots of anger and angst. Trouble with authority figures. There's rarely anything of beauty in his work and, when there is, he wants to present it in some sterile, distorted, non-pretty manner, such as shining a bright light on the pretty girls face.

Not for me.

I gotta agree with BlueDog. Dark with a touch of Goth. Not my bag.

Awesome images

I don't know how someone could look at those pictures and not think they are amazing. I've been trying to duplicate that look for 2 years and I can't seem to figure it out either.

I am befuddled. Are we looking at the same portfolio? "Anger, angst, disturbed childhood, dark, etc." I just don't see that at all. As a matter of fact, to the contrary, I see light. Lots 'o light.

What I also see is some very creative photography and some very good retouching. Above all, I see a photographer with amazing control of light. In particular, see the portrait of Corey Franklin (you can pull up info by passing your cursor over the right bottom corner and clicking on the "i" button. For me, that portrait is a tour de force. To hold all that detail while skirting the abyss of blow out is incredible.

Anyway, back to the topic that Pindaro posted. There are so many styles/looks here. Many pointing out specific images as examples of what you're interested in would help. For example, I see muted colors, saturated colors, super-saturated colors...

Which one?
I dont know how anyone can look at a portfolio like that and say 'thats the look I'm trying to achieve' there are as many different looks there as there are photos.
While diversity and range is good, his portfolio is cluttered and disorganised, as a photogrpaher he has failed to define a style for himself, prefering the versality of a pick 'n mix of styles. I think organising his photos into series or style sets, or just grouping similar photos together could greatly improve the impact of his portfolio - as it is, I'm unimpressed, it looks amateur, messy and very 'student'.
