| | | Here is my retouch of this girl. Here is my retouch of the girl. Retouching should be something that looks natural like it was supposed to be that way. Hope you guys enjoy it. :-D! |

I'm always curious when people use comments like yours with regard to what retouching "should" be. I am by far no expert (I'm a cosummate "left brainer" in the Navy who dabbles in photography/retouching as a hobby to release my inner "right brain"), but shouldn't retouching (i.e. photo editing) be based upon either the desires of the client or the retoucher's personal taste/interpretation of the original photo? Retouches range from the extremely subtle (i.e. slight curves, levels adjust) to the explicit (putting a human head onto the body of a cat). While one may look "natural", the other obviously doesn't, but it could be an incredible retouch. For me, there are very few "shoulds" in retouching, but a huge number of recommendations that can improve a retouchers skill and open their eyes to various interpretations of a photo. All one has to do is sift through forums like this to see the amazing talent of many folks...and the lesser attempts of other like me. But I think everyone can learn from the good and the bad and shouldn't (oops I used the word) be locked into "should's"
Regards
Mike
BTW, I did like your retouch. Wish you had posted a higher res version so I could better see all that you did. |

| | | Re: Glamour retouch challenge here!!!! Hi there! This is my first post and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to enter challenges. So I apologize if I'm doing anything wrong, but here is my attempt!
Full res http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/765...hmichelre4.jpg
I wanted to change as little as possible, and just enhance. Didn't want to change the person, so I didn't really remove birthmarks or freckles. I gave her a little more eye makeup and made her lips a bit fuller. I think she looks best with a natural look.
Comments are appreciated!
