Well this image has been flogged to death, resurrected and flogged again but going back over the submissions I particularly like the colors in Solitear's one so I thought I would give it a shot with a similiar color scheme. Syd

First of all, I'll preclude that ... ...I don't do glamour. I can say that I do like the natural look. This one definitely did benefit from a technique that I outlined here. I also did some healing brush work (kept this to a minimum) in PS and some skin color equalization. Here's a larger and higher quality version. Attached is a downsized version (did additionally sharpen it since downsizing blurred it a little too much).

I just could not resist any longer. Like Ikroll, I don't do glamour but was practicing the degrunge tutorial by byRO. Works great. Thanks byRO for spending the time to document the process. Last edited by duwayne; 09-17-2006 at 05:21 AM.

the de grunge tutorial is very nice with getting some smooth skin, but sometimes using the degrunge tool I tend to get areas in the face that are light and dark...that bugs me...anyone care to shar how I'm messing up with the tutorial??? or do others here get the same thing??? Gerry

How'd u do the background? It reminds me of a high school photo, and I wanted to re-create one for a friend. I just left my glamour retouch challenge's background as white.

| girlfriend makeover here is my version, i smoothed out her skin tone, changed her eye color that's always something small that can make a big difference, arched her eyebrows, gave a her a nose ring (she seemed to have this certain "attitude" about her so i thought that'd go good with her), gave her skin a little more color, and intensified the color of the scarf on her head...that's about all, but i think it turned out pretty good..hope you like it ashley Last edited by yelhsaneerg; 09-18-2006 at 03:27 PM. | Good call on the nose ring. It just works. I liked her with brown eyes, more, though, it seemed to fit better. |

My Go, hope you like, I used the basics of the DIOR tutorial although I prefer the more natural look. I like red colours with dark hair so I changed the scarf and the lips.

I've been wondering through all of this how his girlfriend has been taking the makeovers! I created another one of my "fun" makeovers (I gave her Gila monster skin and a leopard skin top), but I'll only post it by request ;-).

Here is another attempt. Superkoax was kind enough to e-mail me some different pictures of his beautiful girlfriend, and after looking at them, I thought "why not just go for it, just go overboard." I was using one of those hair ads as an example, the ones where the girls are so very retouched, and while you can still see pores, you know that she doesn't look like that in person. So I spent a few hours on this, using Dodge & Burn, Dust & Scratches, a bit of healing to take out her top, and a whole lotta elbow grease. You can take a look at his first post to see what she was looking like that day (her top, her headpiece and hair, her make-up, etc.) and get an idea of what I started with (they were very similar.) She has great eyelashes! What does everyone think? It's my first attempt at this type of retouching. Last edited by TheVeed; 09-20-2006 at 02:04 PM.

I love it Veed. I am trying your method right now on the original pic. I have been busy on it for almost three hours now and I am not nearly finished. Unlike you I am not including breaks in that time. That is solid work time (or play time, however, you look at it). Also it doesn't look nearly as good as yours. Interestingly I was convinced you had added some noise to the picture but now I see I am getting the same effect from B&D, particularly on the shadow side of the face. I am not sure if this is because there was just shadow noise there before and now it is being exposed because I am dodging it or if there is some other phenomenon at work. It is taking for ages and I still have the whole left side of her face to do. I hardly want to post it now after I see what you have done on the two new pictures. But I shall keep my word and post it. So far I have only used a Soft Light layer to dodge and burn. No clone, no healing brush...nothing else. Excellent work again Veed. Syd

| Okay, well, I finally did it. A marathon D&B session...well, certainly longer than anything I have ever done before. A full five hours. My fingers feel like arthritic claws after all that clicking. Although, not perfect I am quite pleased with the results. It is the smallest Photoshop file I have have ever made. The background original, a D&B layer, a sharpening layer and a contrast layer. Not once did I resort to the clone tool or the the healing brush. All the retouching was done on a Soft Light layer with a 5-10% opacity brush. Nothing more. No blurs, no smudging. Nothing. Honest.
