Is this picture workable?

This is where the family wanted the picture taken. Half shade and other intense sunset light. Can someone balance this picture some way? If you do get it better if you put the steps I will try it too!! Thansk Neb..

Re: Is this picture workable?

Hi Nebgranny

I used shadows/highlights to start. Then I used colorburn and colordodge layes to lighten and darken with contrast.

Then I did add a little cyan and reduced saturation a little.

Re: Is this picture workable?

Hi Nebgranny
Duped and changed mode to screen, duped this layer, adjusted skin tone for the two men as they ended up orange also adjusted the shirt on the man on the left for the same reason.
Not perfect but on the way.

Peter

Re: Is this picture workable?

Please forgive the delay. I thank all of you for the work done on the photo. It always amazes me just how many ways people come up with to correct a photo and each way seems to work pretty well. I appreciate all the efforts. Neb

Re: Is this picture workable?

What I did was to copy the layer using screen blending mode. I added a layer mask to that layer colored black and then painted white on the mask in the dark areas.

Re: Is this picture workable?

Corrected the yellow color cast, masked curves to lighter her, Paint-with-light
action (http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm)for color matching/lighting and used inverse unsharp (A=15, R=45, T=0)for contrast.
