Re: Silly Eye, Beauty Retouching. now is it Your turn;)!

A very quick retouch job. I didn't do anything, other than clean-up of her face, and making it more symmetrical; no make-up, or anything. I did slightly darken her hair highlight, tho.

Re: Silly Eye, Beauty Retouching. now is it Your turn;)!

This is my rendition. I actually divided her face and half and flipped the (facing the photo)right side and put the two halves together. A little select color for skin coloring and I actually degrunged her three times. Dodge tool to lighten the whites of her eyes and the burn tool to darken the cornea of the eye. Changed the lipstick color to a lighter pink and pub a little light lavender eyeshadow on using a separate layer and a soft brush. After putting the shadow color on I when over it with a smudge tool. Put the new image on the old and painted back the frosted part of her hair on the left. Her forehead is a little narrower that it should be. Used the clone, patch, and healting brush for small imperfections on the face.

I wanted to try this again without using half a face. On this only the eye and eyebrow are borrowed. (right side).

Tried to keep it natural. But, alas, it's so easy to get carried away. Didn't take long though -- 20 minutes?

I use a bit of everything but 90% of it was dodge and burn. For instance, the larger stuff I remove with the healing brush or clone tool then I start to dodge and burn. Mostly I dodge and burn with a Soft Light layer, filled with 50% grey (the only purpose of the grey fill is to provide a backdrop to see your dodging and burning against) and then I use a soft white or black brush with the opacity somewhere between 1-5%.

Sincerely Syd

Here is my version.
I think the skin is a little soft and the hair kind of looks painted.

Ruud92, how did you do the skin?

I give Her Face a Gaussian Blur ( 7,3) then i did a new layer with the Face of the original SKIN ( Overlay) Then i did a High pass filter ( 10,0) Over that layer! and set him on 70% , and the Face! i did blush on the cheeks, i dont have burn or dodge, because i think that its not necearsy is for this photo( i know my englisch is not Really good, so i hope you can understand me!)

Re: Silly Eye, Beauty Retouching. now is it Your turn;)!

yay! I love retouching challenges. This one is mine - because of the low quality of the photo, I couldn't do a "realistic" skin retouch like I usually do - so now she's airbrushed to perfection and she's ready for a magazine cover.

Edited to add:
Here's a side by side comparison. In Photoshop 6.0: I used guassian blur/art history tool (several settings: luminosity, overlay, lighten, darken) , several adjustment layers, as well as the magical Liquify tool.

Re: Silly Eye, Beauty Retouching. now is it Your turn;)!

I did a quick mask and gaussian blur to fix the skin on a background copy.
To tweak the eyes I copied them and pasted them to their own layer to whiten the whites and dodge the dark. I selected the nose and did a
tranform perspective on it.

Thought I'd take a stab at this too as I needed a break from a photo I'm working on.

irshgrlk: Can you post the steps that you did to achieve your "try".
I had problems with dodging the eyes to get a lighter eye so I painted
in some yellow and did a smudge. You got the effect that I was trying to
do.

Unfortunately I've already tossed the file but here is what I remember...

1. Levels adjustment to correct overall tone.
2. Healing brush to remove obvious blemishes and discoloration.
3. Byro's degrunge technique found here.
4. Used Photoshop CS2's Liquify Filter to slightly adjust features.
5. Selected a pink color from the lipstick and used a soft brush at low opacity to add blush to cheeks, forehead, chin.
6. Made a quick selection of the iris and pupil of each eye then took the dodge tool (small soft brush) set to midtones and 20% exposure and drew a circle around each eye.
7. Added fake eyelashes to the tops of the eyes using a brush I found on Deviant Art. (Eyelashes by Trisste) I slightly blurred and decreased the opacity of the eyelashes.
8. Added a hue/saturation layer with very light opacity to brighten the image and to make it look more contrasty in my opinion.

Somewhere in there I also painted the blond highlights with a color I sampled from her hair (brush set to color) because I think darker hair helps the eyes to pop out more.

Hope this helps.
