Introducing myself :)

Hi guys!

I work for a newspaper as the presentation editor, but I do a lot of retouching for the fun of it while I Photoshop newsy things for work (no, not news photos -- I don't mess with those. But I do a lot of illustrations and such). I happened to come across this board as I was looking into doing some freelance (we have strict guidelines and cannot work in a similar field in our town, so I needed Web work.) Anyway, then I got all caught up in the fun of it, so playing around is as far as I've gotten.

I thought I'd say hi and offer myself as a guinea pig -- a sort of hostess present to the board, if you will. I added a link to my Halloween photo (which I used, once retouched, in various Web capacities in October), unretouched and in all its raw goofiness. I, of course, have done my own version, which can be found at the second link. But, I thought to myself, what better way to make friends than to let them mull your flaws? So, since I so enjoy reworking photos myself, I thought this one might be a fun one for you guys. I have my witch hat on, and I was trying to look mean, but I just look confused. Anyway, enjoy, and I hope to be a good part of the community!

PS -- OK, I changed one thing -- you could see the edge of my hip in the upper right hand corner, cause I'm kneeling and leaning, and it looked like my BUTT, which it was NOT, but, hey, I don't know you guys well enough to moon you yet. So I removed it, very quickly and very poorly.

And, it's not the best resolution -- I wasn't working with my camera. Sorry. But it's just for fun, anyway.

This is my version, but it is overdone just a bit because the places where I planned to use it would show it mostly as a thumbnail, and I needed it to stand out. Yeah, it's way bright and way, way sharp, but it worked.
