| | | Pageant Eyes Please no flames. K?
I have been contacted to do pageant photography for a little girl. Her momma wants the creepy kinda doll like images we have all seen. Though this is not my personal style, I do want to try and give her what she wants. Of course, I will provide my regular style of work, but I need a little help on accomplishing "the look."
On one Pageant retouching site, I noticed the photographer replaced they eyes with "doll eyes." First off, where do I find digital doll eyes? Seconly, how does one add them so that they look truly real? Not just like they are pretty new Irises stuck over icky old ones?
I realize this is a loaded topic, I truly do not wish to stir the pot. I am just lookin' for a little help.
Thank you all for your time and help,
amy PS This is my website, so you can see I really do not work in this style, LOL www.amycoephotography.com |

| | | Re: Pageant Eyes Here is an example I tried on. They just look even a little too fake for doll eyes. Of course, that is partly because you don't often see bright green eyes on asian girls, LOL! I think I need some pictures of real eyes, too. I think these irises are fake, used for making digital people.
Feel free to CC any of my work any time,

| | | Re: Pageant Eyes Amy, can you post an example of the final "look" you need?
Are we talking makeup? or manipulating the eyes (making them larges, change shape, color.. etc.) or are you taking about fake eyes, to look like a ceramic or plastic real doll? or are you talking about JonBenet look (child looking like a adult)

| | | Re: Pageant Eyes Sadly, a JonBenet kinda look. The first and second are an extreme example of kinda what she is looking for. The third is about as far as I would want to take it. I realize the none of these have much basis in reality, but the third is the closest to natural...I guess.
I have photographed this little girl before, and I know she can be a bit of a tough cookie, so I would like to be able to have, uh, back-up eyes if it comes to that.
Thanks for your reply,

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. It is actually being replaced in the next few weeks, with my new business name (Lifeprints) and it will not be Flash based at all. Yeah, I am not happy with it either.

| | | Re: Pageant Eyes Literally doll's eyes. Photo of doll's eye superimposed over original pic and blended in (slightly enlarged). Colour and levels adjusted. On a new layer, a yellow tinting on one edge which is then gaussian blurred to bring out iris details. |

| | | Re: Pageant Eyes I don't understand the reasoning behind the "plastic doll eyes" look?
If its a pageant aren't the judges or somebody going to see that the childs eyes aren't like that at all? What's the idea behind that? It's horrible 3d animation looking..why use real kids at all?
Lasa
I did a google search and the first image that came up was exactly what you are beeing asked to "make"...What a horrible spooky look! Why use real kids at all?

These images remind me of "CHUCKY"...

First off as for your site, it's mozilla that doesn't work, ie works fine.
Secondly, I probably don't say this as much as I should and hopefully you've heard it enough but your work is FANTASTIC. I don't think you should have to sacrifice for what the client wants. No offense to your client but your work is great the way that it is! |
