Adding shine to a black layer

I would like to use a black layer as a background. The black I used to fill the layer has a dull finish. What do I do to give it a bit of a shine.

Thanks

Re: Adding shine to a black layer

You may want to be a bit more descriptive concerning what you need. Maybe an example photo that shows something like you are looking to achieve. Thanks,
Chris

Re: Adding shine to a black layer

Chris,

You are right but I just can't seem to duplicate what I'm looking for. Yesterday I moved a layer with a black background and expanded the background. When I filled the new section with black it had a slightly different shade, gloss, shine than the original. The only way I compensated for that was by cutting and pasting over the new section. I know that there must be a way of putting a slight shine on the black background but I can appreciate that this request is hardly as clear as it might be.

Thanks for you timely response.

Re: Adding shine to a black layer

black backgrounds absorb light unless gloss to reflect, or hit hard with light, really need an image to work with
