| | | What do you Think about this retouched Portrait? Hi Folks !
Okay, I’m not sure of it's a copyright image.. But I have retouch it, just for fun but also to try for me new things! Original Retouch
And now is my question:
What do you think? And how would you do it? let me see !
All the Critique is welcome !
Thanks!
Ruud. PS. it’s a Portrait of Angelina Jolie, Yeah she is already a beauty, I know |

Excellent job on the eyes!
A couple things I note.. lips lack "gloss", you lost her right shoulder altogether, her lower right chin area lost some pixels and the line is not smooth.
Skin tone and texture is good, but for the over all lighting on the face, I finde a little too much contrast between the left and right cheek areas. The left cheek may be a little too dark.
Good job. |

I have circled the shoulder area in the sample below where the definition of the shoulder line has been blown out.
As for her lips, they look dry and lifeless. They need more gloss or a wetter look.
After looking at your work in progress again, I must have had an anomoly on the screen redraw. The first time I looked at it her right jaw line looked crooked, but after re-opening the file, it looks fine. |

Apple/Mac displays have a brighter gamma than PC/Windows displays. That section of the shoulder is very light but only the red channel technically goes beyond 255 - see attached images.
It all depends on your intended output I think but IMO this one's fine for my monitor. |

| | | Re: What do you Think about this retouched Portrait? You said you weren't sure if that image is copyrighted. Not that I care, but you can assume ALL images are copyrighted unless they state specifically that they are not. Photographer owns what passes through that lense. By the time you see the picture in a magazine or on a website, someone else usually owns some version of it to some degree, if not completely. So, if it makes you feel better, you are probably violating two copyrights! But I won't tell! Shhh! |

Much better on the shoulder area. :-)
I think what is bothering me about her lips is that her eyes have so much sparkle and the skin is very "powdery" (is that a word). Her lips look powdered and women don't do that. They go out and buy expensive lip gloss to shine up their lips. Also, you'll note her lips are glossed in the original.
I did a very light dodge on her lips. Especially the lower one that is reflecting more light. |
