Used Shadow/Highlight in the opposite way than normal, then used Flaming Pears Kyoto Color for the rest.

Right I cant remember it all, but here goes.
In Shadow/Highlight I shifted the Shadow slider to zero. The Highlight slider to approx 50%. I did mess round with the tonal ranges and radius as well but can't recall the settings. Also slight adjustments to Colour correction & Midtone contrast. These were all to taste really, just have a play.
Kyoto colour, a freebie from flaming Pear, Just kept hitting Random settings till I got something I liked then just tweaked with the glue settings.
Maybe a final levels adjust.
Hope this helps.

First I upped the contrast a little, then created a new layer set to Soft Light and created a split gradient layer to darken the sky and beach but keep the horizon light.
New adjustment layer and de-saturated a little to give it that kind of washed out light you get just before a storm.
All this blew out some of the cloud detail, so I copied the original over the other layers and applied a mask all layer mask, then painted in the blown out sections, blurred the mask to hide the "joins". |
