Need help with skin color

Need help with the skin color. I had trouble getting it right. So I finally just airbrushed a skin tone close to her own. But I still think it does not look right

What do you think of the rest of the retouch? I tried to keep her looking like herself, only better.

Re: Need help with skin color

Hi there

I warmed , lightened and softened the skin somewhat. Of course all the tones presented could be true... they are all in the resonable range.. you know the true tone.

Re: Need help with skin color

Hey,
Try this for color correction:
1. Add Curves adjustment layer and tweak R G B curves separately
2. CTRl+SHIFT+ALT+E - merge in a new layer
3. Duplicate top layer 2 times
4. Put top layer on Darken mode
5. Select Middle and Edit->Apply Image - Blue channel in Normal mode 100% Opacity - INVERTED
6. Layer mode to Overlay
7. Gauss Blur with 40
8. Layer Opacity to 50%
9. CTRl+SHIFT+ALT+E - merge in a new layer
10. Image->Adjustment->Shadows/Highlights - and bring back hair
11. CTRl+SHIFT+ALT+E - merge in a new layer
12. Selection - Color Range - Fuzziness to 0, and select dark pigment spot
add more brown pigments in selection.
13. Selection->Modify-Expand on 1px
14. With selection active switch to Patch tool and slightly move you selection

Re: Need help with skin color

Sasha, no offense, but all the cyan brought out the worst in the photograph. Definitel not a move I would recommend.

I agree. She deserves healthier skin than I made.
I was only showing the way how to color correct. You can run by numbers (which I didn't) and apply appropriate curves to make right skin tones.

Post-fix - turn down Cyan curve in medium GCR CMYK and make steeper Magenta, after that skin reads perfectly
~ 10C 35M 40Y (average) which is right proportion for white Caucasian with pale skin
