yet another "how do I get this look" thread

Hi There..

This guy is one of my favourite photographers and Im interested in how he gets this 'steel' type look in his shots - they're obviously desaturated but have had something else done as well. They look very 'vogue' to me .. I just love it..

Anyway any ideas would be appreciated. I've had a bit of a play but can't get anywhere near it ..

Not everything is retouching exclusively.

Doesn't look much like "Dave Hill" to me ... although I may be mistaken, and yes, I realise it's not all photoshop trickery.. he does seem to have a common style or look to those shots though

To steal a photographers look you have to start by taking the photos in the same manner, and then think about the retouching part.

Re: yet another "how do I get this look" thread

There should definitly be be a video tutorial of the process someone goes through , screen capture style, for paint with light as well as the dodge and burn . so that someone can see how they are done in a real work flow application method.

Re: yet another "how do I get this look" thread

these picture weren't lighted in ps! it's all about what you do BEFORE you take the pictures! set up light, good light metering and the balance between ambient light and flash/strobe...

the desaturated effect is done with photoshop and can be done in many ways!
