Hi Gee, could you please explain how you would sharpen just the blue channel. I've only just started working with individual channels so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

Choose channel panel Choose Blue channel. Choose a sharpening tool.

Or copy blue chanel paste in layer panel to its own layer .

Thanks pellepiano, I didn't think it would be that straight forward!

Please forgive my ignorance, but i know that the blue channel, used in conjunction with an overlay/softlight layer can be used to bring our detail, pores etc similar to a high pass layer.

To this extent, could manipulation of the red or green channel be used to smooth skin?

Kicker to the back right, 22" beauty dish up high and on camera ring flash.

Post was done with D&B on soft light layer, localized curves adjustment layers and localized selective color layers. I also desaturated some of the darker parts of the photo to add contrast.

Really good shot Vapour, I think that your wise use of flash has really made this shot happen!

Just evened out some of the tones. Adding magenta here and there... I just wanted to give it an overall warmer tone given that the ambient lighting was already warmer.

Thanks... its all about balancing the ambient light and the flashes as well as balancing out the power levels of each flash. Its difficult with a ring flash as they end up being very powerful and can give that nasty (or sometimes beautiful) shadowy halo around the model.
