omg...(i'm about why i'm here instead of going sleep)
okey, I've found what i want to do with people (clothes, faces, skin)...but it doesn't work with background (interior, nature, furniture..etc...)
any help pls? (just like a present for New Year's Day)

Still You could use CameraRaw or something simmilar, then with 3 pictures (0, +1 -1 on exposure) create hdr, and make background like You want. Then create another exposure for main subject (person for example) and work on it the way You want.
I think this should do the job .

Here's another attempt. No lucis art, not much D+B, bit of high pass. Most of it is in the lighting although this isnt 100% dave hill lighting, i thought it looked somewhat similar. TBH im getting a bit bored of this dave hill crap!

I totally agree, no offence but this is meant to be a Dave Hill thread. Whist IMHO this thread should have dies ages ago, but if people are intent on keeping it alive at least post images which at least look like the work of DH, alongg with a workflow explanation.

That last image is absolutely no where near Dave Hill!
