I was going to say why we can't se Dave Hill photos on higher resolution, or larger sizes, and to be honest, i look at all his photos, to my eyes not all his photos are the same effect or his style, some can be his unique but others are not so, even HDR can be better, so are all his photos are really can't get closer, if i will choose which photos that has that his technique appealing then it will be mostly 60-70% of all his photos.

And your point is?

What comes to bodybuilding photos, I have done it for years because I own a website related to that sport.

That's right. I've never seen a high ress file of all these famous retouchers, like Dragan, Joey and this guy, Dave. I personally think that this kind of retouch (because it's not photography, it's retouch) is very common at these days. There are lot of retouchers doing exactly the same thing (me included). The method is always the same but the results changes. The change is so slight that they looks more like the same thing. Some of them are more contrasty, others are more smooth, others more plastic, others more detailed and others more graphic like. In fact, in the Dave'swebsite you can see some of his retouchs are quite like a comic or even like a drawing. After raising the so excesivley the contrast (plus, the dynamic range) he has to erase all the noise someway.

Here is another one like dave and joey and such... http://www.timtadder.com/

About Dragan, well, that's a very special guy, he also do photography, not only flatting the images using flashes for everywhere. However, I would like to see how look their pictures at 300DPI at 30x40cm, just for curiosity.

There is another cool and original photographer and retoucher, here is the link: http://www.erwinolaf.com/ 45 minutes looking for him, I forgot his name, but here it's

Nice cypisec! You don't need to give away your process exactly, but what is your main application to obtain that effect? Was it Hi-Pass, Shadow/Highlight, or sharpening radius?
