I've only watched the first one so far but it is the best example of his work BEFORE retouching. There are some very clear and crisp shots showing composited images before they are run through photoshop.

I know lighting is a key component, but DH is doing a LOT of work in post. It will be really interesting to see what the final images are like when they are posted on his website for purposes of comparison.

Right, I'm going to watch the rest now!
thats obviously not dave hill.

First off, the composites are just horrible - the lighting makes no sense at all. the type of lighting that this guy used is the type where people who don't know anything about photography look at the photo and know something's wrong, because he hasn't taken the post production far enough to make it look like an illustration like david does.

Secondly, it shows the photographer in the video, and it's not dave, and on http://www.behance.net/gallery/Sprin...g-2011/1011959 right at the top it says project by Marcus Wyss.

Don't just believe it's david hill because someone says it is. An artist of that caliber would never let his name be on something like the images that were posted, whether he was in charge of post production or not.

'the type of lighting that this guy used is the type where people who don't know anything about photography look'

Absolute classic comment. Dave Hill was the photographer and I thin from recollection you actually see him in one of the vids. He also provided the links via twitter.

lol.

Finally got round to seriously trying the Dave Hill look.
I didn't get it, but the look I got in the end was quite interesting.

Re: The demystification of dave hill! let's all he

Hello

here is my last attempt.

Absolutly no dodge & burn.
The pictures are a composite of 12 shots from the same day and angle to remove the assistants & flashs, and to add some edge light on the car.
After the composite as been done, the final treatment is only a 30sec tuning in Light Room : Some local clarity, fine tuning of colour... nothing more.

Here are 2 Before&After shot
