OK kiddies, play time's over.

If you can't speak to each other in polite and respectful terms (whether you feel that way or not), then all your posts will be removed from this thread. I've already removed some of the more offensive ones.

The subject of this thread is "The demystification of dave hill", lets get back on topic.

Mode could give some feedback to Snook. He is just posting "mtmm this and mtmm that".

And if snook wants to copy my style, feel free to do so. www.pakkotoisto.com/mike. But we all got to understand, Daves style is not just retouch, he´s style is a composition of funny scenarios, cool lighting and retouching.

For snook here is my blog(in finnish), where you can check out my light setups and other jobs I do.

http://mike.pakkotoisto.com/

But enough for now, Snook are we cool?

Re: The demystification of dave hill! let's all he

I think this thread has gone from positive to negative in MANY ways! The thread has just grown out of it's box. Now people can't find a right way to angle their questions, find the right information...Is there someone out there who can summarize this thread and make it shorter and MORE informative??? Maybe one of the mods can sit down one night and delete the pages that doesn't contain any important info or post that doesn't lead to any creative thinking/sites/tutorials ETC? I really don't think we can sit down and here and follow this thread from start to end...over 100thousand views, 64 pages and 957 replies, hmmmm...something tells me this can be done by the mods!

PLEASE????

Gerry

MTMM: I don't think you should stop posting! Your pictures is inspiring and no you DON'T have to share everything! It's now what I feel is right! It would be worse if you shared the before pictures rather then the after shots! You have contributed with ideas and creative inspiration as far as I can see it! Just don't stop posting! This thread has come a long way with your ideas and words!

SNOOK: I understand your hunger for making people share their workflow in here, but we all need to tone down our behaviour! I've read all the pages last night and I can understand your anger/frustration over the point this being a sharing forum were we all share our workflow and ideas! But I think that MTMM's point of not sharing it all, is what we all see in Dave Hill as well! Some thing needs to be up to our own to find out...

Gerry

You guys are all guilty of immortalizing someone who really shouldn't get credit for the look. Furthermore his results aren't that great from an artistic point of view.
By now everyone should have figured out what it takes, or at least have found a method that works for them. Because just like with anything else in Photoshop there are many ways that lead to Rome. Respect to Superkoax for being the ultimate firestarter.
I know Kelby got you started on this.
Don't know if anyone mentioned Sacha Waldman in this thread, but check his stuff out and appreciate some great composition. You'll also understand what inspired DH and many others. !!

Re: The demystification of dave hill! let's all he

My 2 cents....

I've read this thread from the beginning...and only recently have I gotten any thing out of it.

As far as Mtmm...I really like his work...I just have a hard time understanding why he either 1) doesn't answer the question or 2) explain why he won't. I guess I am naive enough to think we are here to help one another. If he wants to keep a "secret" just say so and we can go on.

I also like Snook's work. I've read many of his post for the past two years and I find he is like myself and Gerry in that we are just trying to learn how may obtain a look...not to be like them, but to add to our own abilities to create our own look...and as you all know the learning is endless. Snook has been very forthcoming (thank you).

Now...Gerry...you started this post..and I would have thought you would have at some point summarized the "key points" from all these theads as to what you have learned. Surely you don't expect a moderator to do so.

Any Gary...I don't know what you have removed, but why come down on this post. I have certainly read rude comments from others in the past (often from the same individuals) and I never see you intervene...just be consistent.
