I COULD do it, BUT again that post would just end longer and longer down the list. If we continue to walk away from the thread's vision of learning something here I would get someone who has POWER to take away the bad posts! It would give new members easier access to the important stuff and make them understand it better...Too many have posted bad remarks, non creative post etc! I don't say that they deserve a place in this thread, but if we want to stick to the thread's original idea it would be for the best to take away some confusing elements, so to speak!

Maybe we can make a new thread surrounding only the best bit's of this thread? Maybe I'm way off there...

Not so sure a conclusive thread is reasonable considering no one has posted how to do it.

For snook here is my blog(in finnish), where you can check out my light setups and other jobs I do.

But enough for now, Snook are we cool?

Yeh Dude no hard feelings..

I want you to know I never wanted you to tell you work flow..
Just when you started stepping around what you have said or did not say was dodgy..
I was just curios what Bleach bypass you said you were using and then you went off in a bout of back tracking what you had said..
Was not trying to put you up against the wall..
was just trying to get straight what you had already stated..
then it snow balled from there.
I can accpet a truce and to tell you again.. I could give a shit really.
I always said you were the closest in my mind along with that obsilia dude who never wrote anything.
I can get close and to tell you the truth I send only work on my persoanl stuff retocuhing and i send a lot out. I f I want the exact Dave hill look I will have the retoucher do for my client as they pay for that stuff.

But the look is already old and how many campaigns or photo shoots are going to want that look.

In any case still curios what you doing but hope you either share a little bit
or help people some how.

Peace
Snook

Bleach bypass was just in that one image just to show what you can do with that method. I believe there is many roads to DH-like style, but only one road to DH style.

Anyways, trying to keep style pure, is the main thing. No halos, no noise, and this at full resolution. Few pages back is a perfect example what not to do. Posted by that guy who said "15 minutes blaa blaa".

Re: The demystification of dave hill! let's all he

I just do not understand why it is so hard to figure out how to achieve this one look. It baffles me.

I can understand that it may be hard for someone to perform the post-process (because of a lack of an artistic eye and art form), but I do not understand why the process is so mysterious.

Re: The demystification of dave hill! let's all he

it is baffling...
That is why there are over 100,000 views here and in other forums there a lot more...:+}
It reminds me of the Dragan threads...
They never really got anywhere either.
I also agree and posted in an earlier post that this is not knew and there were guys like sacha,ficus etc.. doing it before Dave Hill even shot a camera...:+}

All the pst I have seen doing it through lightroom or acr looks pretty good if you leave it a little subtle.
I actually like it better than Daves stuff and the trend now is All Natural.

Another side point is that if you notice in dave's latest videos he is using Capture one and he has a highlight and shadow warning blinking green and red, I use the same program for 6 years, and he several times talks to his tech making sure they do not completely blow either one.
When he lifts his shadows there has to be some info there or other wise it will go to crap and there will be noise.

Most of the stuff we are seeing in the web post are going to print like crap.

Something that Dave Hill will not let happen...:+}
