Smile A picture that has potential of retouching

Hey everyone,

Firstly, I'm new to this wonderful community and I love everyone here. You all seem really patient.

I'm not too fond of retouching because I've been only doing it as a hobby for a few months. I have a picture that I've been attempting to make look "good". I really think that it has potential in succeeding for some retouching work. I've already attempted to do my part with the picture, but I've ran out of idea's. And what I've done so far is basically all I know how to do at the moment, until of course I learn more off of practice.

Try this out and see what you could do with it!
Thanks a lot, I REALLY appreciate this!

Jordan

Re: Pam, I'm calling you for this! (Anyone else can contribute as well!)

I am not a retoucher and I am not sure of the end use of this picture, but I did feel that there was too much wall.

On the picture:
-dodge and burn
-color adjustment

Thanks a lot for your input, I appreciate it. Maybe this isn't such a "retouchable" picture after all? I appologize, I'm not too good with choosing a good picture to retouch.

Anyone else is free to do what they want with this.

What is done to a picture depends upon the client's wishes. The intended end use of the picture would play a substantial role in how the picture was retouched. Something like this with the full wall might be great for a movie billboard. The girl in the picture could either be played up or played down.

Just my non-expert thoughts.

Re: Pam, I'm calling you for this! (Anyone else can contribute as well!)

This picture does have to much wall. Also, the subject is off to the side, and cut in half, so she is not the center of attention. The wall is. What it needs, is something to give it some 'drama'. What is she doing? Why can you only see part of her? What is she looking at? What caught her attention? ... Maybe she is peeking out at an audience prior to the show?

DC has the right idea, here is a slightly different take on the problem.

Hi Jordan,

First of all, thank you for the kind words! I think you'll find a ton of talented retouchers here. I'm not a pro, I just like playing around with pictures : )

I did play around with your image to give it a bit of style. I used 5 textures and a decal (I've shown the elements below). Let me know what you think...

Beautiful retouch! Thanks so much Pam, I appreciate it! I love the way you added that grudge type of background to it. It has a lot of texture to it thats very detailed. This is sure a good piece of art! Oh and by the way, could you link me to some retouching tutorials that have helped you along the way? Thanks again and keep up the GREAT work!
