Of course. I always try to play with color balance, masking, d&b, blur for background (which is completly mess ).

For me best way to make thing looks like this is to play on copy of orginal layer with color balance, then desaturate it layer and put in soft light mode adding mask. Then I add color balance layer as clipping mask and I change color. This fun should be repeated for each of photo element, you like to focus on.

In the end you can sharpen thing selectively.
