| Need help and inspiration ... i'm new to this forum and need some help with a picture. Maybe some of you could give me some inspiration, what to do with that pic I have some ideas how to retouch it...but i'm interested in some other opinions... Feel free to experiment with the pic and repost it to the forum. Full size: http://s3.directupload.net/images/070730/293ZDAI8.jpg Greetz Novi |

| Re: Need help and inspiration ... Greetz, First of all, welcome to RetouchPRO. :-) Your photo needs color correction. There is a definite greent color cast and is very flat. I did a levels adjustment to correct the green cast and reduced the resulting harsh reds with a hue saturation in the reds by shifting them more towards yellow. |

| Re: Need help and inspiration ... This is my try. Very lovely young lady. -I used a 3rd party filter for color correction. -Reduced some of the redness in the face--at least it was on my monitor. -Enlarged the pupil in the eyes. -Smoothed the facial skin texture. dc Last edited by DCobb; 07-30-2007 at 11:43 AM. |

| Re: Need help and inspiration ... Hey novi, nice photograph, did you snap this one? I gotta tell you, I didn't do a whole heck of a lot with this photo, because your subject is a naturally beautiful young lady. The consensus is that the photo needs a slight colour correction, simply because it has slightly more green/cyan in it. All I did was colour correct, adjust the pupils, and soften the face slightly. Here are the stages I took to adjust your photo: - After colour correcting, create a new layer - Using the Paintbrush tool, paint in a pupil roughly the same size as the one in the photograph - put a smaller white dot in the black dot (to resemble a light) I did it in the upper left corner. - I dropped the opacity of the layer to about 60% so that the layers below would be visible, and so it's not such a harsh black dot. - Make duplicate layer of the master - Make a selection of the face - Mask the selection of the face - Put a Gaussian blur on the duplicate (masked) layer - Paint the mask so that the eyes, brows, hair, mouth, etc. are not effected by the Gaussian blur. - Adjust the opacity of the duplicate (masked) layer, so there is the appearance of a slight softness. Mine was dropped to 48% I hope this works out for you, and if you have any more questions, don't be afraid to ask! |

| Re: Need help and inspiration ... Welcome, here are a few steps I took... 1. Color correction as picture is too yellow (also used a selective color adjustment layer with mask to get rid of some of the redness in the face) 2. Healing for the few blemishes 3. A VERY light skin degrunge (tutorial in the tutorial sections) 4. Played with brightness & contrast to make it pop And my result... Last edited by irshgrlkc; 07-30-2007 at 03:42 PM. | Re: Need help and inspiration ... I.. - corrected the green color cast 'by the number's' using the wihte and blacks of her top - curves to darken the light BG - enlarged the pupils & saturated the colors of her eyes using masked duplicate layer in Overlay mode - matched the overall skin tone by painting on a blank layer in color mode with a low opacity brush and Paint With Light II action (atncentral.com) - softened her skin with Kent's Skin Fix action from http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm - sharpened and added a vignette to darken the borders. |

| Re: Need help and inspiration ... Hi Novi. Welcome. Pretty girl. I gave her my whole beauty treatment. Biggest problems to overcome were flat, hot lighting and color bleeding from ambient surroundings. |

| Re: Need help and inspiration ... Hi - I wanted to give this a try too. Very nice photo. I used a chanels adjustment layer set to luminosity monochrome checked to reduce the red. Then lowered the opacity of that layer. |

- Try the colour option "Don't colour manage", and then save using the "Save for Web" command (<Shift><Ctrl><Alt><S>). - If your colours are about right, there's a button at the bottom of the "Save for Web" screen where you can "try out" the image in your browser. - Also, after uploading to RetouchPRO, you can click on your image in "Manage Attachments" and see how it's going to look. Here's mine. Did a lot of little things. Also rotated and cropped (had to clone a bit of tree). Tried to be a bit more "natural" than "glamour". Rô |
