Like retouching...?

...then you'll love these. Some great retouching here, if extreme in some cases for my liking.

Re: Like retouching...?

This horrible site keeps making the internet rounds. Porn-grade retouching at best.

Re: Like retouching...?

nononono. extreme is one thing..... HORRIBLE is another.

One of the biggest problems here is that there is a big lack of even knowing what good retouching is. The site posted is atrocious. Not a matter of overdoing it, it's doing it badly.

Everyday I make 'photo illustrations' for ad campaigns. the retouching is extreme, but the retouching itself has been done well. Realism in the sense of anatomy, correct light, color, etc. has been maintained. The sense of dis-belief is unharmed.

Re: Like retouching...?

never saw this site before, but the 1st image in the portfolio section, the pen. cruz was funny.....the mouse over is funny, her body shaping.

her shoulders do instant steroids, her collar bone goes flying to the left, and i never saw anyone make a thin woman's forearm bigger!

Fascinating portfolio. Thanks for sharing. I don't know if I think it is all up to par either but it sure was fun looking.

Re: Like retouching...?

Uck, I don't like his work at all. It pisses me off that some people actually charge big bucks for horrible work and some of the best retouchers are just unknown and charge almost nothing. Sad.

Re: Like retouching...?

I didn't mind some of the retouching. I think we have to bear in mind that we don't know what the images were going to be used for.

Which would bring up a very interesting question.

If someone was going to pay you to do some retouching, would you give them what they wanted, or say that you don't like that kind of look and turn down the work ?

Ant, could you point me in the right direction to showcase some good, decent body/face retouching. I viewed the above website, and whilst the manipulations were in some cases severe and nothing short of crude distortions - it is exactly this kind of retouching that is the norm in the beauty magazine world. Not a world that I inhabit, but one I imagine takes up a large chunk of the retouching work that is offered? Would I be wrong in thinking that?

Ant, would really like to compare and contrast this website with any other that you recommend to be of a more subtle and naturalistic (for want of a better phrase).

For those of us who are looking to learn new skills and dabble in the world of retouching - it would be invaluable to learn good habits rather than pick up bad ones just because we presume the industry expects this kind of end result.

N.

Re: Like retouching...?

I looked at the site and although we might not like the work,I am assuming the clients are satisfied.Which in the end is what its about.I really do not know all that much about high end retouching,it is just my opinion
