Color Tone & Color Correction

Hi everyone! i m Ha , new member of this site. I found that there are many experts people in here. I would like to ask you few questions about Colours.

I dont know if you guys have come across this kind of tone (It s very popular in Fashion and Adverstising). i will up some sample of works to make you understand what i m talking about.

I can only see the final site as I don't have a flicker account either, it looks a bit like it is a dark sepia overlay added to the picture and then the opacity is dropped to allow more colour through, maybe even a gradient map

cassidy, what would you say is the best way of making a sepia layer?

Hi Ha,
i been watching Andres Hernandez 's flikr (lol his one of my flickr's contact) and about the photography , i think the mood is created by the lighting ;well i guess u already know that, but technically u can achieve that by shooting outdoor with a good studio flash and a neutral filter ND8 for the best.
The ND filter will desaturate the colors, and darken the background and hopefully the subject will be correctly exposed.
then surely some tweakings under photoshop, but there's experts here who'll help u with that part. hope this help.

I think it's done with only adding flash and taking up th f/stop! let's from 4 to 16/18 or something close to that! It's experiment thing with the f/stop try it and you will see...The light source must be close to the subject...therefor everything around the light source will be dark and moody, but the face will get a white-skin-desaturated look...

you're right koax, but if u want a short DOF, and that nice bokeh on background, u'll never get that at f8 or 16 lol. not even with that oh so pretty lens but a liiittle expensive 400/600 mm...

multiple exposures is the name of the game! and the dof can be arranged in photoshop afterwards...but the lighting techniques is what comes first!

hey koax, nice snaps here, but ur subjects look sliightly underexposed but just IMHO... and im not a fan of blurring backgrounds in Photoshop to suggest DOF for the simple reason u have a different Bokeh quality between nikon/leica or whatever lens...photoshop blur makes it look like u watch things with ur grandpa's eyeglasses lol

Taipan: I haven't blurred anything here...sooo....if you see the goose it's not underexposed...it's burned out trough the middle part because of the sun...th original is not like this...
