In today's USAToday there was a promo for the Orange bowl tonight. I was wondering if anyone has an idea how the streak in the ad was created in photoshop?

The one running through the middle of the players, or the nice splashy one on the left hand side?

The one in the middle is a path, stroke it, blur it and then mask some pieces out.

The one on the left is ( I think ) just a piece of paper, some ink, SPLASH, scan.

I think I can do the one in the middle...the one with the sparks is the one I don't know how to approach.

You take a piece of paper.

You get some ink.

Splash the ink on the paper.

Scan it.

TADAA!!!

Bit rough and ready this one, but I think you get the idea.
