Re: How to get the Jill Greenberg effect

Amy Dresser was doing the retouching.
Now other people do the retouching for jill greenberg.
I met one some months ago in New York.
Very friendly guy

Hey Calvin, with the quality of your work I'm surprised sh hasn't given you a job!!

To digress slightly, do you think Dave Hill does his own retouching?

I was only kidding and my comment was a compliment! Anyway, I'm sure on one of your webinars you said that the SWAT image was taken by someone else?

Doesn't matter :-)

Re: How to get the Jill Greenberg effect

I understand that using professional equipment is definitley a requirement for producing these remarkable pictures, but for the people who are doing this as a hobby, is there anyway for us to mimic a similar style?
I have:

- The amazing Canon XSi
- a couple cheap strobes that can sometimes do surprisingly amazing lighting
- a couple lens, but my fav is the 85mm and 50mm

Does anyone see any Jill Greenberg potential in there?

Re: How to get the Jill Greenberg effect

Hi dvbear,
yes i see potential with your hardware!
But a Middleformat Camera has much more dynamic as an normal dslr.
Go on first with your lightsetup to make a shot like Jill´s pics and then with much time to learning to paint the effect with your wacom (or anything else) board. I prefer a wacom!
The most of all is the correct lightsetting and many practice with dodge & burn.

regards
Martin
