Retouch challenge: Bride out-take

Here is an out-take from my last shoot - Thought everyone could have fun with something different. This is raw out of camera and is a very large image.

Seems like everyone is doing a great job with their retouching - the only thing I can say is to keep it simple... way to much over-processing! Have fun with this one and I will throw up another image soon.

Please respect the copyright on this image. This is for your practice only, Thank you.

Re: Out-Take Image For You To Practice With

Good advice on the "over doing." Easy to get caught up in doing that.

Welcome to RP and thanks for offering one of your pics to work with.

Re: Out-Take Image For You To Practice With

Meant to mention: Very nice pic for an outtake.

Wonder why someone didn't mention the overdone eye makeup to her. A shame to mess up such a pretty face.

Looks like "twigs" in/around her hair... or just "wet hair."

I'd be interested in reading your comments on what you would retouch in this photo, your general observations, strategy, etc.

Re: Retouch challenge: Bride out-take

Yes they were twigs... The overdone eyes were the center-point of the shoot, but not apparent enough in this photo (the outtake) In the final image the eyes were just "in your face" . So many ways to go with a photo like this. On one hand it just screams to be "over-done" with retouching! But if you go with the twigs.. as natural as possible would work. Thats why I love the image for playing around.

Re: Retouch challenge: Bride out-take

I struggled with the color retouch (don't do this kind of thing much), so opted for more forgiving (colorwise) BW. Got rid of most of the branches and attempted to make eyes look better.

The other two are "arty versions" just for fun.

Really like the head tilt and crop.

Thanks for the opportunity to play...

Here is how I would have done the original file if it was selected as a final pick.

Thanks for your kind words. The Impressionist plugin can be trained to do some pretty amazing effects.

Tried to keep those eyes. Not a retouch , paint effects.

Thanks, I've been in need of practice material - I'm my only "model" here in Iraq. I'll post up my results when I get the chance!

Re: Retouch challenge: Bride out-take

Here is my version of it. Made with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.
I also removed some hair from the right side.

Re: Retouch challenge: Bride out-take

My version: I wish I had more time, but thank you for the opportunity to practice, I didn't realize to see how hard it is and I should get into it more often.

sorry for the late answer. YES, I did it with Photoshop Elements 4.
It is not as powerful as it's big brother but you can do a lot with it.
Version 6 has also some new good improvements. I just downloaded
the test version.
