Thanks much! Points noted.

here's my own try. I played around with a "metallic finish" after I was done with the retouching.

No blurring involved! Do give yr comments. Thnks!

Re: Retouch challenge - Male headshot

I'm talking about reducing noise and artifacts. That's exactly why I mentioned re-applying texture. I agree with the do not blur skin if you're just using one of the blur filters in your photo editing software. You lose tonality and complexity if you're blurring an entire face full of skin and that's a big no no.

Hi eveypd! Not too bad. I would try and adjust the colors, there's something weird going on there. Also, his entire left side is way too dark. Welcome to the site.

Not too bad, nisa. You cleaned up his right eye a bit too much though, and I'd do a little bit of color correction as well.

Re: Retouch challenge - Male headshot

pretty good. you should clean up around his lips, and reduce his wrinkles a tad. he looks much older than he should. great color correction too!

Cool CC BitG. You might want to lighten up his right side a bit though.

I think you overdid the background gradient. You can try a more subtle approach. For the retouch, i think u did some blur and smudge? U can try the clone tool. Or the Spot Healing brush.

Jus my opinion. A newbie too.

Question Re: Retouch challenge - Male headshot

Funkcanna, make sure you image is 100k or below.

Here's what I came up with - took me about five hours. If the actor was the draw for this product/movie/commercial, then I wouldn't have changed his facial construction so heavily. I retouched as if it were all about the character, and the model is just a means to an end. Obviously, it's silly to alter a person so heavily when the picture is supposed to display them, like in a portrait or headshot.

Lately I've trying to put more narrative into my retouching, but this one didn't go as planned. I had intended for it to be a cool, secret agent meeting. Probably because of my lack of "agent" props (gun, suitcase, ect), the scene has a certain... how should I put this? She looks like she's about to "make some money." Or am I just crazy?

The two stocks I used came from Deviantart.
