Eyelash help Every time I try to add eyelashes I run in to problems. I know how to create eyelash brushes. I have a large range. My main problem is that the eyelashes seem flat and painted on. I was wondering if there is a technique I am missing or I just need to add more makeup to inner rim of the eyerim to make the eyelash blend in. I have uploaded a sample piece. Any advice would be great michael

Re: Eyelash help I don't think you're doing it right, somehow. Your added eyelashes are so blurry, they don't look right at all. I saw a technique somewhere that recommended using the Pen tool to draw the individual new eyelashes. Time-consuming, but effective.

Re: Eyelash help The technique i have been using is basically creating a new layer, painting the eyelash on the layer, then transforming the eyelash to fit the eye. The opacity/flow are at 100%. If you happen remember which tutorial or have a basic idea I am interested any technique that works.

Re: Eyelash help hi Ruud, Katrin Eisemann said on her book that you must copy (from the same image) the lash that you want to add and put right where you want to fill the space on the rim. I guess that was what you did!! If not, don't care 'cause it looks good!!! Silvia.

Re: Eyelash help Ruud, Thanks for the help. Basically you pointed my back to a technique I could not at first learn. I also used a brush to make the eyebrows as well. I also had never learned how to put on eyeshadow so this was definitely practice. Last edited by mschwartz; 02-05-2008 at 06:34 PM. Reason: did not include photo

Re: Eyelash help Any kind of pre-made brush is a nightmare for beauty retouching. Every eye is different so generally eyelashes brushes wont fit. You could duplicate an eyelash from the image a billion times but why the hell would you bother. Use the "freeform pen tool" to draw your own lashes. Make a new path, draw your lashes and then "stroke path" onto a new layer, after you've defined the brush tip of course! I always use paths for eyelashes and eyebrows because they allow you the freedom to layer, add, subtract, etc etc. The best part is that you have the ability to make tailor made eyelashes. This isn't the best example, but it took me literally 30 seconds to get the ol' maxfactor 2000 calorie lash effect on the bottom lashline.

Re: Eyelash help Thank you for the advice, I have stopped using eyelash brushing. In The last photo I posted. I created a curves layer, changed it to multiply, then simply used a regular brush to paint on the mask to define new eyelash. In the upper eyelash I used the freeform pen tool to create some of the lashes.

SergioDanilo: I use high end lash brushes (not those brushes i gife free away in a tuturiol about makin eyelash brushes), but also the technique that digital_addict describe. http://www.dphotonews.com/tutorials/..._eyelashes.php. santajuana : ehm no i also didnt use that technique, but if you do use always if it can, the eyelash of the other eye becauseit will look fake when you see second times the same lash |

Re: Eyelash help Hi Ruud, I don't use that technique either but sometimes knowing that kind of techs is helpfull! The Katrin's technique is usefull when you need to fill a small space otherwise it doesn't work. I also prefer to make the eyelash myself.
