Re: How to: "Christian Schmidt" Look Yeah I downloaded it. Its just the AIM profile. Here again, I think perhaps thats how he getting his bleached out whites, but I am talking about the bigger picture. How is his shoot setup? Does he do compositing? How is it all constructed? This may be a question that cannot be answered... (see the Dave Hill thread) but I didn't know if anyone had any insight.

Re: How to: "Christian Schmidt" Look I've been following this thread close to since it started. I've had that AIM profile and the action for quite awhile. I used it too. It just bleaches the white. Like I said, I'm looking for his overall approach. Last edited by rystro; 07-17-2008 at 10:37 AM.

Re: How to: "Christian Schmidt" Look hope this question it makes sense... is it possible to achieve this effect but in B&W images? You know strong shadow areas, even and pale skins, strong contours in eyes, a general high contrast. method for B&W?

My question to the experts: after converting & assigning the color space, how do you retain/bring back the natural colors to areas you don't want to whiten? Curves helped a bit but not to the extent you see in Christian Schmidt's images. Any inputs? Thanks |

Re: How to: "Christian Schmidt" Look No! :-) The conversion to RGB will automatically flatten all layers even if you hide one layer. Try it

Re: How to: "Christian Schmidt" Look This is an absolutely incredible thread- Thanks to everyone who contributed! I had the chance to play around with this technique today on a variety of photos I just took. Out of the four candidates I tried, I was only satisfied with the attached result. For those who are experienced in this technique, are you able to tweak it to apply to any photo, or do you find it only works with a certain kind of subject? If so, what would you say defines the right type of subject? For anyone interested, my workflow for this photo included doing the profile conversion/assignment steps twice, followed by copying and pasting the result over the original in the Screen blending mode, and sandwiching a Curves layer between the two tweaked to add some cyan, blue, and green. Final touches with a slow-flowing white brush on a blank layer set to "overlay"
