Hi nanuv... Welcome to the forums.

There are two types of noise...
* Luminance
* Chroma (color)

Use netimage or noise ninja plugin. Works very well and is easy and quick.

Ya I know lot of programs and plugins remove the noise very well,
but I wanted to know the particular photoshop tricks with CS only.
Not with CS2 and CS3 where noise removal filter is present.

Hi,

As U said there are softwares what solve this problem mutch better, but try this:

mode lab
select chanel L
despecle filter 3 times
select ab chanel
gauss blur 3.5 ( at Ur picture)
select lab
duplicate bckgrnd
change new layer blending mode to softlight
highpass 4.2
invert
flatten

So much of the noise you can see is from jpeg compression. If this came from the camera like this it may have been taken with a very low quality setting for jpeg. Blow it up as large as you can in photoshop and you can see whats causing the noise.

I used Neat Image with the filter preset for high frequency jpeg artifiact. Did a reasonably nice job. BTW - you have a very nice Black & White image.

I did a little Local Contrast sharpening and High-Pass filter sharpening in Photoshop
