| | | Any Video Tutorials on D&B? I have been trying out some dodge and burn techniques from info I have picked up here on the forums and other sources. But I haven't gotten much in the way of improvement. Nothing I have done so far is not up to a level I am seeking. I see many others here are trying to learn this technique as well.
So I wanted to find out if anyone has a link to any step by step video tutorials out there that could highlight the techniques and little more clearly.
How much time do advanced retouchers spend on average for a super hi-rez image that is going to press with a 133-175 line screen?
Thanks Steve |

| | | Re: Any Video Tutorials on D&B? go tohis blog, or PM him, think he mentioned something about may-june. should be a nice dvd though. i personally wouldn't purchase anything on the current market if I were looking to learn, but he has a very nice clean style...and probably your best bet.
and you'll prob pick up on some other things like workflow, layer arrangement, learning how to do what you currently do with a very minimal amount of layers, which makes working on files between shift (different people on the same file) a lot easier.
and you'll prob learn, most importantly in my opinion, less is more. |

It is a known fact that advanced and experienced pro retouchers are a bit reluctant to offer specifics on their workflow. The same way a master chef won't reveal his recipes, only to those when necessary to help his/her workflow.
But even knowing directly how to do something doesn't necessarily mean that person will have the patience to master a technique nor take the time to pull it off. I went to the magic store and bought 3-4 tricks with directions on performing them. I practiced them and went down to see a magician perform them, but I couldn't pull them off as good as he did, even knowing the secret. It's all in the performance after knowing the secret and practice to pull it off for the audience perfectly. Another magician showed me how he does slight of hand/eye with pulling cards out of the air faster than lightening and to this day I couldn't pull that off. But then again, I'm more interested in retouching than magic tricks, although there may be some parallel there

| | | Re: Any Video Tutorials on D&B? have you seen the Amy Dresser Workflow? I have been trying to follow this but still when trying to light a dark spot the color changes...even with low flow/opacity and graphic tab with penpressure...guess I'll wait for chrs' dvd http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/pho...ching-men.html |

| | | Re: Any Video Tutorials on D&B? I've been away from all forums for several months as I finished both an e-Book and video tutorials (6+ hours) on sharpening photographs.
I have a video on D&B that yu can watch. I'm going to release a new, expanded version in a few days. http://www.thelightsrightstudio.com/...derControl.mov
