retouch bevor-after for portfolio

may I introduce a retouch I have made for my homepage?
what do you think about it?

It's a rollover: http://www.tomjonas.de/retusche.html

a big thank you to all of you. I've learned so much here in the forum.

Tom, Welcome to RTP!

Nice retouch. Just one thing that bothers me, her skin has no "life". To me it's too pasty and needs a little red tone.

Re: retouch bevor-after for portfolio

I was about to say almost the same thing regarding the skin. It looks plastic to me.

Re: retouch bevor-after for portfolio

I don't have a problem with the color. It's certainly a style that's used a lot. But if there's anything plastic, it's that you've smoothed out her shape too much. Not smooth in the sense that it's usually spoken of so disparagingly, with blurring—you've kept some decent texture—but you've lost most of the distinguishing curves along her surface, particularly around the eyes and cheeks and her forehead. What you need to do now, once you've gotten all the imperfections removed, is figure how to selectively return some of them, maybe just a hint. Usually the instruction for wrinkles is "Knock back a bit," or some such, rather than remove all trace. The problem also shows up at the corners of her mouth. There's a slight indentation and curving at the point where her lips come together, almost a grin, that suggests an actual expression, as in personality, a touch of ironic humor. You've lost that.

Decent technique, however. Just give her back some life.

thank you for your comments. I go over it and try to recover the distinguishing curves.

Hi Tom,

I had a look at your webpage and I liked the photos under "Bilder", did you take them all yourself?

I think you are on your way. I do have a bit of issue with the music though, for me a bit of a distraction. JMHO. But it is your site and of course free to design it anyway you desire. If you can put in a bit more "life" in the skin on the retouching, I think you will be there. Thanks
