OK, so I am going to critique my own retouch even though this may not be the thread to do it in, but seeing as how it was posted here originally... I have since retouched a few more images and am learning a lot more as I go. There were a few problems with this retouch (aside from the sunglasses).

1. The hairs on the back/nape of the neck should have been removed.
2. The peach fuzz, fine hairs along the jawline and part of the cheek are just too obvious and should have been healed out and removed or D&Bd out. I visited Carrie Beene's website and noticed how clean her images were.
3. Probably should have done a second conversion for the hair on the raw but didn't. Was too obsessed with skin at the time.

Well that is the fun of it learning... and I think I am. A couple of months from now I will return to this image and will be horrified at how many more things I did so wrong.

To all forum members, allow me to say Hello; I am new here and this is my first post and, my very first post of a high quality, hi-res image retouch. I am not a professional just a 'Retoucher Wannabe' so please, please, if you have time please critique my modest attempts. I am an admirer of Amy Dresser, Natalia Taffarel, Jason Tuchman et al... I plan on being a frequent visitor to this forum and hope to learn a great deal from all the experts here.

I'm new on retouching too and I've been working in this same image.
I want to tell you that I like the way you retouched the model's nose! I tried to create something similar but I obviously need more practice!

LunaLuna, I think you've done a pretty good job on the nose, I looked at your larger size image too and I think the skin is very good.

I was just curious - I was following your other thread were you asked a question about another retouch, same model with sunglasses. How did you make out with getting rid of the facial hair. I kept thinking of going back to redo the image but din't have time. I think I will leave it as a reminder to myself of my early retouching days, where I missed the really obvious. Oh, and by the way, I way over sharpened the images for posting here, the hi-res don't look anything like that.

Re: free to use 5 digital back raws!!!

Hi!

Thanks for taking a look to my work!

For the facial hair in the other image I did two things:
- clone the hairs one by one
- D&B the hairs one by one
It took a lot of time but the result was the best I could find. If you use another way I would like to know it!

In this image the skin wasn't so difficult to fix. The model has a nice and soft skin. I just did some healing and a lot of D&B.

I didn't sharp the skin. I guess I should have used some sharpening in some places. I just forget that! I'm new on retouching and there are lots of things to remember!

OK, I'll play too. I posted my before and after photos at

http://www.craigstocksarts.com/retouch.html

Roll your mouse over the image to see the before version, click on the photo to see a larger version. I didn't post a full-resolution, so I hope it's large enough to see the details.

Thanks for posting the files. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Hi!

I would like to say a few thing, i hope you don't mind!

I think this is a very good shot and doesn't need to be reshaped.
You decided to do it so my advice is this: be careful not to deform when you reshape.
If you take a look at the fingers you'll see what i mean.

The skin is very nice. I would do a bit of D&B at the right side of the mouth.

The masking of the background is a bit harsh, specially in the right side of the face and shoulder.

The eyes are really beautiful. Congratulations! I hope I can do something like that someday!

Well, that's what I can see! I hope you find if usefull.

Lucía.
